The flagship Park Slope-based group, founded in late 2012 as 5th Brooklyn, is now 5th Prospect Park. Chance Michaels is the Group Scoutmaster.
5th Prospect Park has scouts in all three sections - a Pathfinder troop (grades 6-12), an Otter raft (K-3) , and two Timberwolf packs (3-5). All sections are currently full, but please contact us for information about our wait list.
Our namesake park, opened in 1867, was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, the architects behind Central Park. Prospect Park is 526 acres of trees and fields, waterways and paths, ballfields and Brooklyn's only forest. Visited by more than 8 million people each year, it is a center of social activity and recreation for both Brooklynites and guests. We are honored to wear the name "Prospect Park" on our uniforms.
Our scout necker is primarily green, the color taken from our namesake park. To that green we have added a thin band of khaki.
