Timberwolves
"DO YOUR BEST"
The Timberwolf section is for scouts in grades 3-5. This section focuses on extended Scout skills, wider community and physical activity. Timberwolf camp offers the opportunity for Scouts to learn greater independence as Timberwolves are encouraged to attend weekend camps without their families. This helps prepare the Timberwolf Scout for backcountry hiking & camping as a future Pathfinder.
Timberwolves work in patrols of six (called Sixes) and practice teamwork, personal responsibility and accountability to their patrol. Timberwolves often develop strong friendships as they work together, whether it is on food drives or camp chores, as the emphasis on teamwork creates bonds among Scouts.
At this stage, Timberwolves follow a more structured curriculum based on the original curriculum* developed by Robert Baden-Powell.
Correct use and control of knives and fire for Timberwolves who have proven they can be safe and responsible.

* The Timberwolf program was originally based on Robert Baden-Powell‘s friend Rudyard Kipling's "Jungle Book", OSG recognizes that this work has roots in colonialism, and has recently revamped the program to offer an alternative. The use of the Jungle Book varies between groups in Brooklyn, and remains an ongoing conversation within the National organization.

Hat: Navy blue cap with the Timberwolf Badge centered on the front
Shirt: Grey long-sleeve jersey t-shirt with no collar, sleeves rolled up or down
Pants: Either long style cargo pants or shorts in dark blue, khaki, green or gray
Necker: of the group’s colors worn with a ring, slide or knotted at the throat
